MEI Restaurant is a sophisticated 5,000 sq. ft. pan-Asian restaurant located at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam. This project seamlessly integrates heritage design principles with contemporary aesthetics to create a distinctive dining destination where Eastern tradition meets modern luxury.
The restaurant's interiors draw inspiration from the crane, a timeless symbol of longevity and elegance in Asian culture. This central motif informed a carefully curated interior that harmonizes Chinese and Japanese design influences, resulting in an immersive environment that honors cultural authenticity while embracing modern sophistication.
The fit-out showcases premium materials and meticulous detailing throughout. Key features include striking onyx black-and-white flooring, elegant marble ceilings with integrated lighting systems, rich burl wood cladding, and textured upholstery in warm, inviting tones. The color scheme is anchored by prosperity red, a deliberate choice that adds cultural significance and visual warmth to the space.
The interior incorporates several standout features: intricate hand-crafted murals, detailed woodwork demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship, a dramatic floating origami chandelier serving as a focal point, and a traditional house-like centerpiece that grounds the design narrative. Pivot entry doors and cascading golden light installations frame the experience, creating memorable transitions throughout the space.
MEI accommodates 137 guests in the indoor dining area, complemented by an intimate 14-seat bar. The restaurant extends to a spacious 120-guest outdoor terrace offering panoramic views of the iconic Burj Al Arab, providing versatility for various dining occasions.
